Considering this bull bar & skid plate...

Would a bull guard like this cover the bottom of the radiator on my '08?

Disregard photo description.

From what I've seen... Nope. The 'skid' sits out front of the bumper or below. There would still be a gap between this and the stock skid plates.

Also, pretty much everyone calls these damage multipliers for a reason... Just my $0.02

My '07 Sport came with this type (this one is not my truck).

It might be worth considering if you can find one (it's a discontinued part) if it covers the space you're wanting to protect. P/N is PT212-89070 in case that's useful.

It's described/discussed in this thread. I Plasti-Dipped mine black.

RCI makes a "filler plate" that goes between the stock skid and the plastic bumper cover. That's what I added for that "just in case" area. I had visions of driving through some scrub and getting a stick jammed in the radiator.

T4R-03-09-06 - RCI Metalworks 03-09 4Runner Filler Plate - Stock Bumper

Mine's aluminum and came from another vendor (but I can't seem to remember who) and looks basically the same.

That is correct, I have the RCI filler, and I don’t think it would work with the stock skid. I bought it during the group buy with the aluminum skid. Very high quality stuff. Just as an FYI, the filler plate is powder coated steel. I got the matching powder coat for the skid so it looks like one contiguous piece.

Thanks for the input folks! Keep it coming! I'm not married to the idea of a bull guard; I just want to find something to cover that gap!

Volkinator: Thanks for the heads up but tell me more about what you mean with the term "damage multiplier"? Is there data/evidence to support this suggestion? Also, damage to one's own truck - or whatever one might happen to strike with it?!?

TowMeOut: You hit the nail on the head; that's exactly the scenario I'm concerned about! I"m not doing any hardcore off-roading or rock crawling but I do a fair amount of driving county roads, going in and out and across farm fields, etc. My dad's Tacoma, an '07, has a plate that covers the radiator bottom and he's hit things 2 or 3 times that would have likely compromised the radiator!
