I'd say maybe a total of 24 hours working time. Most of that spent was drinking beer and just staring at it.

Does this solve the "interference" versus "non-interference" debate on the V8 engine yet?

I would hope there is no debate, as these engines are most definitely interference.

Very interesting. I’m surprised they can come out that way with the CATs being so big, but I guess there must be enough clearance. Do you reinstall the heads with the manifolds on as well?

Yes. The heads come out and go back in with the manifolds attached and tight

Wow!
Amazing job! I do simple mechanical work like change spark plugs, headlight projector retrofit, clean MAF, filters, take off the front/rear bumpers. I wish I had a buddy like you to learn more engine stuff, I would have loved to watch and learn from that project. You handled it like a boss. When my engine dies or whatever, I'm paying someone to fix it

That’s awesome! In the first pic, is that black cover with the 3 screws, under the backseat area to access the fuel pump/sending unit? I’ve never had my interior apart so it would be cool to know if that could be accessed from above without dropping the tank.
That seat cover in the washer photo is very telling! And disgusting! I bet you’re glad you took the time to do that, if nothing else!

The pump would not fit through the hole in the floor. That is just a pass-thru for the electrical connector and access to disconnect it before dropping the tank.

You're a champ! That 4Runner couldn't have gone to a better home.
Selfishly, I'm super excited to have you around the forums here so we can bombard you with our shadetree mechanic questions.
Also, that scared the piss out of me to make sure I stay on top of that timing belt service schedule.

Amazing job on that! I rebuilt my engine as well, but just took the heads to a machine shop to fix the bent valve issue. Is it ok to just change the bent valves for new valves and skip the machine shop part on these engines?

Technically you can just replace the valves, as long as no damage was done to the seats or guides. I went ahead and and replaced the damaged valves. Redid all the seats and valve faces, and all new seals.
