FYI. The app is no longer free. It is $9.99 now. Also, the add on is now $14.99. Inflation I guess lol.

Nice. Thanks for the update. Wondering how long it will take for companies to start retroactively collecting in situations like this. Oh wait, Photobucket already blazed that trail.

I did end up getting this adapter. With the promo code listed on the OBD Fusion website, I ended getting this adapter for around $25. Even with the increased prices for the app and plug in, I'm all in around $50. IMHO, that seems like a fair price.

Since I normally have my aftermarket stereo connected to the OBD port I am looking into getting a splitter or y-cable for the OBD2 port so I can use both connections simultaneously.

First, you’re talking about a 5th gen and this post is for a 4th gen. Maybe it’s still relevant, but I don’t know. You didn’t mention that you purchased the additional plug-in as referenced in this thread you need more than just the OBD Fusion app. Did you purchase the additional plug-in?

Hello there , I noticed that the add-on for the toyotas only goes up to the year 2021, would it still work for my 2022 4 runnner? I am trying to get live transmission temperature readings through the OBD Fusion app . I paid the 9.99 but had no luck so from what i understand the extra Enhanced Diagnostics for 14.99 would include those temp. readings

Thought I'd add my preferred method here...

I use the free Torque app on my Android phone along with any inexpensive OBD2 Bluetooth transceiver ($10-$15). The basic Torque app doesn't come with the Toyota specific code built in but you can buy the add-on or you can enter the translation formulas yourself!

I searched online and found the calculations for the data I wanted and entered it as shown below:

On the Torque app go to Settings, then Manage extra PIDs/Sensors then use top right menu to choose Add Custom PID. On the next page you can enter the information for the PID you want to use.

The PID data used to be kept pretty close by the manufacturers but a lot of it can be found on-line if you search.

A great link for adding the Trans Fluid Temp PID to Torque is here.

Good luck!

I too was looking for something to monitor the transmission temps on my '06 V8 4x4 Limited. This is really for towing my camper - CO has some fun climbs at high altitudes.

I just bought the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE for less than $25 and connected it with a free app, creatively named "Car Scanner". I have an old iPhone I use for a wireless camera on the camper so it seemed to be a budget way to approach the issue. You can select manufacturer and the window of the years you need and it pulls all sort of info. So far so good with what I can read, and the connection was easy.
