VHC ABS lights

Hello-

Looking for a little help with some dash lights that lit up. I noticed my VHC light is flashing while the ABS and traction control remain lit. They are not always doing this every time I start the car.

This is the third time I've dealt with these lights. The first time was when one of my six air/fuel mixture sensors when out. I hired someone as i didn't know which sensor was put and they were $225 each.

The second time ended up being a gas cap. That was about a year and a half ago, so I can't imagine it's that.

I thought about going to Autozone for a free diagnosis but they usually give you several things and they can't run their machine unless the lights are on.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

The only time my ABS light has come on is when I had a wheel speed sensor failing. It would also make the traction and skid control lights come on.

Have your truck scanned. If those lights are on, then you should have codes in the ABS / VTRAC module. The generic or OBD-II may not have any codes since your check engine light is not on.

I have / had a similar problem where occasionally I would get a flashing VSC and slip indicator light on. In one or more instance I had the ABS light on as well.

I bought a scanner that does ABS. I was also able to see the offender not working in live stream then work after the new cheapo sensor was installed. No issues since.

I had it scanned at Auto Zone and they said their machine can't get specific with ABS. They gave me three options:

C1223: ABS control system malfunction

C1246: C1246 Master cylinder pressure sensor

C1249: Open circuit in stop light switch circuit

Circling back

I wanted to circle back as I believe I found the answer. One great article I read talked about a DYI way of zeroing out the OBD II But the below video shows you how to do it. The lights have not returned since I e done this!!
