In Case Anyone Was Looking At The Valor Chrome Muffler Tip

I called my local dealer with the intention of getting the Valor chrome muffler tip installed. Turns out they're not available now, just like the all weather floor mats. In this case, as I understand it, there were complaints the tip was coming off due to the hold on bolt failing. The parts man told me there were planning some kind of a redesign, and returning to the market.

Apparantly, they still haven't re-released them as I found a Toyota dealership parts site listing the older model (89040) for $28, but in talking to the parts manager, he said they are not for sale as of right now.
 
Mufflermall sells lots of different tips. I ordered the 62-2419 from 3A Racing through them. Easy to deal with and decent prices.

Unfortunately when I go back onto Mufflermall's website the 62-2419 is no longer showing up. Some of the others might work though. If you can find the 62-2417 anywhere it is actually a better fit than the 62-2419. The 62-2417 is @ 9 inches long and does not stick out as far under the bumper. The 62-2419 is @ 11 inches long and sticks out farther.

Both the 62-2417 and 62-2419 appear to be available on Amazon. On amazon ignore the whining from the guy who claims to be an engineer. Both of these tips will fit on a 4th Gen 4R no problem.

What is so great about the toyota valor tip?
There are tons of rolled angled chrome tips out there both bolt on and weld on.
 
Uh, why not just go support a local muffler shop and have them zap one on? Cost should be less than $30. For $60 including a tip for the mechanic, I had the resonator lopped off, the exhaust exited out the side, and the rolled tip welded on.

I'm American, instant gratification baby! Waiting for a bolt on chrome piece you can get from Vatozone seems silly.

I've had one on my 04 for 6 years & my 08 for 2.5 years now. Both original. No issues. Sounds like a few people don't know how use the gud-n-tite method....:bluejump:
 
Ive had a Valor on my truck for about 3-4 years now, it is looking pretty bad. Very tarnished and starting to rust, does anyone else have this issue. I would say you could find something better online or at a muffler shop.
 
I bought a rolled stainless tip like Scoobs referenced above. I took my reciprocating saw and trimmed the original exhaust pipe back a few inches to hide it once the new tip was slid on. I thought the bolts to hold it on were pretty amateur looking so I just welded it on. I think it looks great.

Anyone in the area (west Michigan) that needs their exhaust tip welded on let me know-
