Spare Tire and Clearance when Trail Riding

Driving to Utah tomorrow for the Cruise Moab event later this week. This is my first time taking my rig out on the trail. Currently have a 3" OME suspension lift with 265/70/17's on and was wondering about my spare tire clearance on the trails. Been thinking about taking it off and throwing it in the back but was wondering if people have any issues keeping them underneath. Sure it will be a wait and see thing once I am out there, just thought I would ask around.

I don't think I've hit mine come to think of it, its in one of those places that would be weird to bottom out, it just gets really really dirty under there. Give ya that extra few inches I guess if you tossed it in the trunk
 
I hit mine all the time. At first I was worried about damaging it, but from talking to people more experienced, and now from my own experience, the tire holds up just fine and saves the bumper from getting ripped off.
