2006 limited v8 cel, vsc, trac lights on

Looked like a damn christmas tree. I bought this truck used dec 18 2010. put about 2k miles on it. This happened while I was driving to a birthday party saturday. I stopped and filled up with gas about 5 minutes after they came on. After the party, still had the lights so I took it to the dealership I bought it from since it was still within the full 2 month warranty period. They gave me a loaner car and said they would call monday. I read all the gas cap posts and a few about the o2 sensors. I also read any time the cel lights, the puter will also disable the other systems, vssc trac, etc.

Wonder of wonders, the dealership just called to let me know the truck had a bad battery and it's ready to be picked up.

They better not be crappin me to wiggle out from under warranty service.

A bad battery could very well be the case. It seems that Toyota likes to get your attention with dash lights! I've read that a loose or defective gas cap will trigger the same light show!

It funny how you described this...I had this same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago and this is exactly how I described it to my mechanic. He told me to turn off the truck for about 5 minutes and restart it. When I did it cleared. I did have the doors open and radio playing for a while so it could have drained the battery down but recharged while driving home. It was a little nerve racking driving down the road and seeing all the warning signs in the dash.

I just got a 2007 V8 in May of 2010. And I got the same warning lights when I forgot to reconnect the MAF connector on the intake tube, when I removed the Hydrocarbon Filter from the filter box - Toyota 4Runner Hydrocarbon filter removal. I also noticed that the factory battery had a warning to add water (distilled). Just unscrewed the little glass view cap and filled to the MAX line on the side of the battery, then put it on a battery tender overnight. It kinda surprised me that the battery was serviceable, which I do prefer.

All WAS well yesterday when I picked it up after work. However, on the way to work this morning, the dash lit up again. Back to the dealership after work...

Dropped the truck tues at the FORD dealership where i bought my 4R. Didn't hear a peep out of em yesterday (wed). I hope they took it to a Toyota dealer for a proper diagnosis. However, I have this mental image of a few FORD techs scratching their heads as they mill around my 4R....

I picked up the mcrunner yesterday. The ultimate culprits were 2 bad O2 sensors. They were replaced by a local toyota dealership. Now it's out of warranty so whatever else happens is up to me to repair.

New Gas Cap

2006 4WD Sport Edition. Just wanted to post that I had the CEL and Trac Lights go on about a month ago and I tried a few of the quick fixes but the lights came back on. Then I really looked at the gas cap and the seal appeared somewhat deteriorated. I went to the dealership and got a new gas cap, ~ $28, installed it and a few days later the lights went off and have been off for a week now, knock on wood.
