Creative Things to do with the Sport Hood Scoop

It seems like we out to be able to do something creative to make that Sport hood scoop functional. Maybe we could brainstorm some ideas. :artist:

For instance my wife, green thumb that she has, probably would suggest it might make a neat planter - if it could be shielded from the wind. :arrow:

How about a really bright light in there for off-roading? Adding light wouldn't clutter up the front then! :cool:

Come on - let's get those ideas rollin!! :awais:

The Cicadas came out last year (They come out every 17years in the east coast region) and it was great for catching them while driving.

Not to be confused with John Secada:

It would be a good idea if someone could fabricate a ram air CAI intake from the hood scoop to the air filter box. I think it would be a lot better then those K&N flik intake that suck in hot air from the engine.
 
One day i was looking at the hood and remembered a part on my car that would fit. So, i took some "measurments" and found that the brake light that is attached to the wing on the sports edition, would fit nicely into it.

Just an idea.
 
i was just thinking about removing the cover just to let the cool air cool the intake manifold..i had a hard time trying to take the last screw off which was under that insulation so i said f-it...definitely need a good suggestion on what to do about that..




by the way i have an 04 SE V8
 
isnt't there a screen there? with the dust, maybe but i saw how my dealership cleans the engines..they spray this citrus degreaser and they let it sit for 5 mins after spraying it with compressed air and water..it actually works but im a little worried about the alternator and all that electronic gizmos...it would be really cool if someone came up with a good idea on how to make it fxnal..
 
How about one of those neat KITT lights from the old tv show Knight Rider? I used to crack up when the car would say things like" Don't lean on me - I was just waxed." and my favorite "Michael, tell me that was not a bird!"
 
If they came out with a turbo kit we could mount the intercooler on top of the engine like the Subaru WRX does (I miss my car :sobbing: ). On a more serious note, that would be cool if PIAA or one of those companies would make an oval/rectangular light that would fit in under there. As far as the options are now I don't think there is anything bright enough now that would fit, to make it worth a modification.
 
Shh . . . . someone is giving away my secret about making a Nightrider light out of the hood scoop! Steve5300, a fellow firefighter, but in flashing LEDs in there. His does not have the nightrider pattern though, so I am trying to see if I can get my LEDs to flash like that . . . .I will post pics if successful.

Otherwise, PIAA DOES make a light that would fit, although you would probably need to cut into the plastic a good amount (I'm not sure how thick the light is). Someone posted a pic of the light, I thought it was on the thread about installing the rear fog/brake/turn signal lights into the bumper reflectors, but I can't find the pic. They are basically 5 or 6 LEDs in a row- white for back up, red for LED. I bet that would fit well, maybe even two, side by side, but again, I'm not sure about the thickness . . . Or how functional it would be . . . .
 
Forward facing radar detector (stealth mode!)?

Water squirter (like a kids water pressure gun) that shoots like 30ft.

"Hood Cam" for the offroad adventures.

I like the last 2 ideas. But what about mounting a couple off-road lights in there?

Or how about an LED message board that you could control from the cabin. You could have some basic preset messages. Also have reverse mode so people could read intheir rear view mirrors!

That would be great for when someone cuts you off. Along with an air horn to ge their attention. :D

I was thinking something like this also, but I doubt that will happen..would be cool though
