It looks like you are going to need to test your sending unit per the FSM, it also has a troubleshooting section that will help you dial in where the problem lies if it is not at the sender.. It sounds like you have a multimeter and know how to use it, so now all you need are the resistance values for the sensor(s) and you are set.
