xj's really are dirt cheap.
if you can, find a 92 or newer for the HO 4.0, the auto's tend to hold together better than the older sticks.
231 txfer case of a 242 is always more desireable....less binding issues when you lift.
i had 3.5'' of lift, 31's, locked, and 4.88's, and had no issues. only thing i paid for was a new radiator and a rear main seal at 205k when i bought it. heat and a/c still worked in it.
parts are a million in the jy...just gotta hunt.
