285 55r20 on 20x9 wheels

I just bought a 2011 4runner Sr5 with 265 70r17 tires. I would like to put 285 55r20 BFG AT's on 20x9 wheels with 4.5" backspace. Is anybody running that? Will that fit rub free with the stock suspension?

Whenever people ask the "Will 285's fit?" question, I wish this would happen...

I read that already

I know about running them on the 20x7 Limited wheels. I did a search before asking but could not find an answer to my question specifically which is running them on 20x9 wheels. I know it can be done, I just was looking for some feedback from people who have run that set up.

Specifically if I need to trim anything, a bit of rubbing while turning, etc.

What is the height of the tire? Is it greater than 32 inches? If so it will probably rub. If that is the case then trimming or moving of the inner liner will most likely be necessary.

All you will need to do is move the front fender liner forward and you'll be golden. No lift needed.

2015 Trail Premium - 285/55/r20 Fuel Beast stock height

285/55/r20 BFG KO2s on Fuel Beast 20s - 2015 Trail Premium. Stock height; slight rubbing on front inner bumper (fixed by slight trim in a snap w/ no visible cosmetic issues); slight rubbing on wheel well/fender flaps on full turn, but could easily be fixed with very minor wheel-well trim or heat press - not a big issue in my mind.

Added a 2.25" front spacer - got rid of the scrubbing completely

Would like to accomplish exactly what you have

Hi -
I have looked through a ton of threads and I'm so glad I ran across your post. You have accomplished exactly the look I want... I have been shopping for a 4Runner and debating between the SR5 Premium vs. Limited. I liked the Limited orgininally because of the 20in wheels, but I can't stand how thin the stock rims/tires are - I just think it looks weird. So now I think the best route would be to get the SR5 Premium and buy my own wheels/tires. I do not want to lift or level, and I've made a lot of calls to wheel shops to try to find out the max height/width I can go without doing either. Nobody seems to be able to give me a straight answer. Based on your experience, 20x9's seem to work and you've got a really aggressive looking tire as well. Is adding a spacer enough to allow me to do what you've done, without needing to make any cuts or modifications? THANK YOU in advance!!! JoDee

Wow! That looks sooo good! I'm gonna make my girlfriend get those rims and tires.

Did you add a spacer to the rear to? I want to copy your wheels and tires it looks great. Trying to determine if I need to do the spacers front and rear. Could you have done less than a 2.25? or did you experiment with various sizes?
