It was screwed up from the beginning. IFS, non removable top, horrible visibility, just nothing even close to the original. The Jeep Wrangler has kept its basic features for decades and that's why they can't build them fast enough. Toyota screwed the whole FJ thing up from day 1. It had so much potential...but...

I've said it before, good riddance.
It was a pathetic excuse as an entry-level/affordable 4x4.
Toyota needs to focus on a proper 5-door wagon style entry level BOF suv (like the Xterra price and features wise).
I've already offered my suggestions on it being a heavily decontented 4Runner built in the US and A. They have the drivetrain bits and parts to make it happen alongside the Tacos, it's just a question if they want to now the FJ is dead.

This is unfortunate. I always kind of liked the FJ and its sad to see another decent body on frame 4x4 go the way of the dinosaurs, even if it had shit for visibility and was lacking in a few areas.

Never really liked the look of the FJ in it's stock form. I've seen a ton of them lifted and they look pretty cool. Someone in my area has a Gobi and ladder and LEDs. Looks even better. Still wish the FJ colors were available for the 4R. That Army Green or Quicksand would rule on a TE.

Well I figured a lot of guys on here are interested in the big FJ rally in CO every year, so from that I made the logical jump that there's an interest by 5th Gen people in FJ news, and thus I posted the news. If you're a mod and want this in another section, then please by all means. If you're not a mod... :flipoff:

As a jeep fan I'm a bit biased. I was working for Toyota when the FJs came out and I wanted to be excited but they weren't that awesome! Anyway...

When I got my 4runner, I had originally went down to the dealership to look at FJs. Took it on a test drive, was fun and thought it looked pretty good in Army Green ...but as some of you mentioned it had poor visibility, the backdoors were awkward and it just didn't make sense for me to get as a primary vehicle. There was a 4Runner sitting next to it, slightly more expensive...but just seemed to fit all the criteria I wanted in an SUV. Ended up driving home in 4Runner.
Still think the FJs are pretty cool and it's unfortunate they are stopping production.

Exact same thing happened to me. I went to drive the FJ Trail Teams, ended up driving an 5th Gen SR5, drove home in a Trail Edition a couple weeks later.
