Weird Clicking sound under SUV 2014 SR5
Hey guys.. I noticed today that there was this crackling/ clicking sound under my 2014 SR5. The sound is there whether it's idle in park or if it's in reverse or drive. I could hear it when I'm inside the car too a bit. This noise wasn't there before.. come to think of it, it wasn't there yesterday. I am going to take my car in when I have time from work to get it checked out, but was hoping if anyone on here might know what this sound is from? I bought the truck brand new.. about 4-5 months ago. I'm currently at about 12,000 miles. Let me know what you guys think. Here's the link below to the video. Thank you!

**UPDATE**
Just went and checked it again.. the sound is def coming from underneath in the rear by the back tires. (and a better description of the sound is it sounds like a typewriter! like someone is typing.. but randomly and not in a pattern)

I don't get audio in that video but these engines do make a ticking noise. Mine was silent at first but now at 10k miles I do hear it every so often. Was something I was aware of so I have not kept mental notes about when and under what conditions it is most prevalent. IF thats what it is I wouldn't be concerned.

If that's all you are hearing it's normal.

Hey thanks for replying! Hm.. I know that the engine has it's sounds but this sound is new to me. And when I pop the hood it's not coming from the engine area. It seems to be coming directly under the SUV like in the middle bottom area? If you listen, you hear the engine sound, but then every now and then you hear this tap tap tap sound... almost sounds like little rocks? I could be wrong it's just that I never noticed that before and today it was really apparent. But thank you though I appreciate your input!

Thanks man, yea I'm not too overly concerned about it, but it's def not from the engine area when I pop the hood. It seems to be from directly underneath the vehicle around the center or back, can't pin point it. It sounds like tap tap tap every now and then like small rocks in a washer dryer flipping around.

Well, the video confirmed flickr sucks. I was able to hear the noise though and it was unusual. What's worse is that it wasn't repeating itself regularly, it was somewhat erratic. It almost sounds as if the fan blades are hitting something and when they do it is moved out of the way and when it swings back it hits the blades again. Definitely get it checked out.

It's def not a chirping sound.. and it seems like those guys hear that hissing/ chirping noise after the car's been shut off but for me the sound only comes on after I start the car. When I turn off the engine it stops immediately. Appreciate you searching the forum for me tho!

Sounds like something flapping from radiator fan wind. Can you hear it when your in the truck with the windows up(no radio on)? If you can hear it pretty clear, something could be contacting the frame resonating it into the cab. Try checking the rubber flaps in both front wheel wells to see if all the tabs are secured/pushed into its locations. I had one lose after the suspension install that made a tapping sound as well.

Can hear it a little bit when I am in my truck... but the sound is coming from underneath the truck near the rear tires somewhere in the middle

My guess is if it's near the rear wheels somewhere in the middle at idle/drive/reverse truck not moving. I think it has something to do with the muffler or the catalytics. Try tapping this area with a rubber mallet to see if you can recreate the noise. If not, the dealer it is. Good luck to you when you take it in.

Our white 14 limited does this occasionally as well. It's from the rear for sure and you can't hear it when you are in the T4R unless you have a window down. I thought it was the tailpipe tip but I tightened that. Will be curious to know what it is.
