Tepui Roof Top Tent

While still waiting for my Gobi rack, I have decided to mount up my Tepui Roof Top tent and go hit the trail.

So, I mounted my Tepui Autana directly to the factory roof rails, not the factory crossbars tho. The 150lb limit was for the "crossbars" not the solid roof rails.

This mounting method, you won't even need any additional hardwares, everything is included!

When my Gobi Stealth Rack eventually gets here, I will just move this over to the Gobi, probably mounting it the same way.

Thomas Mountain / Toolbox Spring Campground

In order to try out the Roof Top Tent, an offroad camping trip is warranted!

I went up to Thomas Mountain of the San Jacinto State Park.

Do you have anymore pics of it set up on the truck? Side profiles etc... It looks aw some by the way. Can't wait to get mine. How the heck are you still waiting for your Gobi? Not to rub it in but mine has been on my truck two months. Crazy it's taking yours so long.

Side profile of the truck with the tent opened? Or just with the mounted tent closed?

I couldn't figure out what configurations I want originally, so I didn't put in my order until the end. And I asked them to build mine last, from the GB, so that I know that everyone has been taken care of.

I also have a few business trips in May and I don't think I can use or mount it even if they delivered it. I wasn't expecting a 12weeks lead time tho. It is what it is..... mine and everyone else is in production now, so it should be here soon.

A pic with the tent open if you took one. Right on about the Gobi. Very selfless

The TEPUI RTT has been on the truck like the above pics for 6 weeks now until today. Today, it came down, and the Gobi rack went on!

6 weeks, a little bit of offroad, but lots of freeway miles, absolutely zero shift, ride and drive around completely fine. May have 1mpg reduction. If you do not have a need for an aftermarket rail for lights and stuff, mounting the RTT directly onto the factory rail IS the way to go! Zero additional cost! As solid as ANY other solution.

Seriously updated the 1st post, due to many members asking about specific part/SKU numbers for the parts/components, I have tried to add those to the list, as well as providing some links to where to buy those parts!

Gobi Rack/Ladder Installation

It's time to call up the crew for a Gobi installation party!

With some young, tall and experienced help, it is pretty simple to get both the rack and the ladder on!

And in the process, taking over my street with a 5th gen 4Runner convoy!

Still waiting to get the Rigid Lights onto the Rack.

Also, decorating the inside with some morale patches:

Special thanks to @BeachRunnerSD and @SKP-4R !!

Rigid lights installed, they look AWESOME!

Oh, another installation tips.....

Use a 6" strip of clear bra (protective film) on the roof where the Gobi fairing/wind-deflector touches the roof. This will eliminate dust/dirt that stuck under there and eventually grinds and hurts your paint.

You can order that strip here: http://amzn.to/1Mxwfiu (the best quality, 3M ones)

Or you can try to find similar ones @ your local auto store.

Steps to apply:
1) Clean the section of your roof that you are going to put this on
2) Cut the strip to approx. length
3) Get a bucket of soapy water, soak strip in it, and detach the "white" backing paper in the water
4) Lay that "clear noodle", sticky side down (with the soapy water, it is not that sticky, and that's the goal), and move it around to get it in the right place
5) Push out all the air bubbles underneath the strip while it is still wet
6) Let it dry for a little bit, now the sticky side should become a lot more sticky
7) Trim off excess with a scissor or a exacto knife
