Brakes squealing at 25k miles?

So I recently purchased a preowned 2014 SR5 RWD 4runner is south Florida. Every time gently press on the brakes I get a squealing noise. I took off front wheels and inspected the pads and they appear to still have about 30-40% life in them.

I am also feeling some on and off pulsating on the brake pedal when applying the brakes during highway cruising (60-70mph).

Any ideas what could be causing the squeal?

BTW I did some research on the forum but I was not able to find any solid solutions.

Any help would be appreciated.

probably glazed.... in Florida when the streets flood and you hit cold water with hot brakes....

if the pads are glazed just get new ones, if the rotors are have them "turned"

Thanks for the response, I will definitely replace the pads and might as well replace the rotors as well.

with that low of miles the rotors shouldnt need to be replaced. If there was some sort of aftermarket brake kit worth the money then I could see doing it but the OEM gear is about as good as you will get on these trucks.

Perfect vehicle as it stands for northern Nevada terrain. Keep it stock - it'll go most anywhere as is.

Really?? You would think that they would last about twice the lifetime span of the front pads.

Ill definitely check them out. Thanks

Yeah. I heard the squealing and bought fronts. Then when I was changing them realized it was the rears... Oh well lol. Changed all the pads and called it a day

Not a squealing, but my front rotors make a bunch of noise. I think one or both are warped. Dealer turned them at 20K, and it helped for a short while, but I'm going back this week to have them swapped out because the noise is back and worse than before.

Water and hot rotors don't do well together....
if you feel pulsing, your rotors could be warped.
That happens here in So. LA (Louisiana, not Los Angeles), we get lots of rain here too!

I've got 30k on my 2016 T4R but no squealing. I haven't been through a rainy season yet (Only had it 6 months) but I would replace the pads because you have no idea how the prior guy drove it.

I do a lot of highway but he might have been jamming on those brakes every day from Hialeah to Ft Lauderdale.

With only that many miles and only 40% pad life left it sounds like the previous owner rode the brakes a lot and they are also probably warped. I agree with the suggestion to replace the pads and I would honestly replace the rotors too.

Yup, im definitely replacing the front rotors and brake pads to be on the safe side. Im just still in shock that in these vehicles the rear pads would wear out faster or at the same rate as the ones in the front.
