I just took care of "pinstriping" from tree branches with a compound and a polish pad. I don't have an orbital, so I had to do it by hand. Most of my scratches were not very deep, so it wasn't difficult. There's a couple (that only I notice) that are little deeper that will need more time and a mechanical buffer.

I used Griot's complete compound. They have it now at Autozone, and it has decent reviews. They say you can use it as a hand or mechanical polish, and it worked well. It was my first time using their product...no complaints about it.

I have on order the Toyota paint pen and clearcoat repair goodies. I haven't picked them up yet (currently away from home traveling) but when I get back and put them to work, I'll share my findings.

Works as advertised...follow instructions.

OEM touch up will "glob".

scratches, chips and dings are all going to have different fixes.

Most scratches can be handled with a microfiber pad and some compound or polish.

I took care of the swirling on our 4runner with a MF pad and Meguiars Ultimate compound, both found at the local O'reilly's

chips will typically require a touch up paint of some sort and frequently will need sanding to be done, followed by polishing and protecting.

Dr. ColorChip works great on nicks but they don't recommend it for scratches. In my experience it works fine on scratches as long as they have defined edges and aren't that long.
