Do you have any of the option 1 kits available. If so how long does it take to ship?

Purchased the Kit Anyways

So I was quite disappointed at first when I came to not only this site, but a few other online resources including a few YouTube videos. Several individuals seemed to have reverse engineered the wiring to make this possible, but they were (as many of you already know and have been fighting over) hoarding the information in order to push their homemade kits and instructions. Now I totally get it! Someone put in time and effort and then designed a product to sell. I myself am an engineer and I know what it takes to get this stuff done. At the end of the day, the work is not complex, its just time consuming. I was pretty upset that this community that I joined today seemed less about being a community and helping each other and more about trying to make a quick buck. So at the risk of creating enemies, I reverse engineered my 2018 today and also payed for the Toyota schematics which I will attach here. There is nothing wrong with creating a great easy to install product, and it looks like the OP has done a great job and many people will buy his kit an appreciate the work he put into it, but seriously... At the very least, opensource the wiring... To hopefully put this to rest, I have attached everything you should need to attempt this yourself. I hope that more people will pay it forward in the future.

Ignore the scratches on my panel near the button... Old marks made by some gear in the back jumbling around. You should be able to see in the pictures which plug on the 2018 I tapped into. According to the Toyota schematics, its pin 7 and 24 (green and grey wire) for the door release latch. I used all Teflon wiring and heat shrunk everything for a nice factory look.
I appreciate your effort to open source all the wiring information. I purchased the kit anyways for convenience sake. There are those that buy kits and those that don't. I believe that even if instructions (OP's or someone else's) get open sourced, those markets will not shift meaningfully. The real concern by OP I assume is that another user may create their own kit and undercut him, although at this price-point I don't see that happening. Open sourcing instructions is ALWAYS better because it invites scrutiny and critique from all parties for improvement. ITT (in this thread) a clear example of that is people mounting on rear hatch surface rather than interior paneling, against the instructions recommendation. Could this invite water damage? That's what I thought about during my install.

I think a video could decrease installation time to sub-hour and I offered to create one but OP has asked me kindly to not.

I am ready and inclined to create a fully detailed instructional video for installation sans kit creation however a moral dilemma is stopping me...

Here's a video of the thing working for now: YouTube

Thoughts?

Sure thing. I'm glad you appreciate my small effort. I'll be making a video of the Sprint Booster soon as well as the CompuStar remote-start system.

Tip: I found it easier to thread the coat hangar from the bottom-end of the hatch door through the channel and to the grommet at the top-end of the hatch.

*** IMPORTANT *** I will also add that the Black Plastic Trim piece that you pull off the inside of the hatch door is INTEGRAL to the rear window operation. It prevents the window from scraping along the track guides when rolling-down/up. DO NOT ROLL DOWN/UP THE WINDOW WITH THE BLACK TRIM PANEL NOT REINSTALLED. You will scratch the glass and ruin any tint applied.

EDIT: Jesse was kind enough to send me some money towards tint repair. However, the tint guy repaired under warranty at no cost to me, so I returned the money. It was still a kind gesture from the seller and it is much appreciated. Sobering to know that there are sellers out there that care about their customers. One of the reasons you buy the kit and not DIY is for support like this... but to each their own!

I plan on ordering the kit before too long, need to financially recover from Christmas.
This kit could be a valuable safety feature. If for some reason you cant exit the side doors yet need to get out, this would make it possible. Cliff wall on one side, sheer drop on the other. Wedged between rocks and/or trees, etc.
Also, I'm thinking of mounting it around the C pillar area. Can be accessed from the cargo area or a rear side door.

Here’s some reference material if you want to add some more functionality.

Thanks. I've owned a 4Runner for 4 years and never put the back window down. It's always so dirty from traveling dirt roads I leave it up.

I just finished installing the kit I purchased from OP, and I received nothing but great customer support from Jesse. Knowing I wanted to install it on the tailgate, he made the kit with disconnects and the black low profile button. I have a 2020 TRD ORP with keyless entry, and the wiring didn't match the diagrams provided in the install instructions. Jesse was quick to answer my email questions, researched the new wiring, and got me hooked into the proper wires. He even provided a partial refund for my troubles! Everything works great, and I'm looking forward to using it in a couple of weeks.

Install is extremely easy if you install it on the tailgate - no removing the speaker, no fishing cables with a coat hanger, etc. Hardest part was cutting openings in plastic for switch and button.
