*** NOTE: This information is relevant to the owners of 4Runner who has newer Toyota Head Unit that accepts Navigation Maps updates in form of Micro SD card.
If you have the Head Unit that uses DVD updates, this thread will be not useful to you.
Gentlemen,
I believe that Toyota recently made a new Navigation Maps update available on micro SD card. The part number is 86271-0E185. If I am not mistaken it replaces the 86271-35015 card, which has 2017 maps. I am still on 2015 version (Map Version: 05-35-51 2015-05-01). Toyota wants a lot of money for the new update and I am not in position to pay it.
I am wondering if anyone who already has 86271-35015 or 86271-0E185 maps in his/her truck is willing to make a copy of the files and share these files with the community.
Yes, I am aware that there is no current (easy) way to copy that information to a new card and make that new card work in another truck. But I have relevant skills and time now (lost my job recently and taking some time off) to take on new challenge. It is an interesting project for me that would exersise my brain and keep it in shape.
What is the benefit for the other guys and girls?
It is simple. In case I am successful, the rest of our 4Runner community will benefit from my findings.
Let me know here or in private if you have the information that I am looking for, want to join the project and willing to share.
