Many 5th Gen owners complain of the 4Runner being underpowered by the offered V6 engine. I prefer my vehicles to be extremely underpowered, so please bring back a 4-cylinder option.
I also find this 5th Gen 4Runner has too many doors. Please bring back the 2-door model from the 1st Gen.
Speaking of that 1st Gen, I also prefer a removable top. The currently offered sunroof just doesn't cut it. Bring back an option to pop the top!
And what is with all of these USB ports and power outlets in the 5th Gen? At least you could have left me my cigarette lighter. Bring it back!
And this silly back-up camera! The picture is sharp when I look at it on my navigation screen, but I can't for the life of me find the button that allows me to print the picture like a polaroid. Please make the button to print easier to find!

You know... take the backseat and rollbar out, enclose the cab, install a drop down tailgate and you've got something better than a Tacoma! I'd buy one.

One thing I've thought about but never tried, mainly because I'm too chicken to hack up my 4R, is install a couple of downward facing led lights in the rear "spoiler" or whatever it is called. There has been a couple instances where I was loading bikes on the hitch mounted rack after dark (and before sunrise) when I really would have appreciated some light back there to see what I was doing. Would be useful for hooking up a trailer too.
Speaking of hooking up trailers... MOVE THE TRAILER WIRING HOOKUP OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE DAMN VEHICLE!! I hate standing on my head or getting on my hands and knees to plug the trailer wiring in! The guys who thought of AND approved that should be punched in the balls once for every 4Runner sold with this setup!

Here is the part number. I paid 12 bucks on ebay, but I am sure my part is not oem. I've had it for two years now and it works great. There is a little round plug at the top of your dashboard, pop that out carefully and replace it with this part.

I have done this mod also. Works great. It's pretty obvious the dash and wire harness were designed with the intent to have auto headlights and someone along the way fawked up and removed them. I even have a PCB in a box to turn the headlights into auto headlights, but I've been so busy at work that I haven't been able to get it installed. It's been sitting in a box for at least a year. Maybe more.
