Heated windshield in 2014 T4R.

Are there actual heating elements in the glass (i.e. with an electrical connection) or does the heat to the edges of the windshield just come from elements in the mounting surfaces? I have to replace a windshield and want to ensure I get the right one. Thanks!!!

The new one I Just got has elements in the glass. According to manual the washer heater button also heats the edges of glass, I assume your year is the same but you could check your manual to be sure, it would probably reference the heater in the windshield.

There are heating elements in the glass, under the wiper blades

There are and if you don't need heated glass, save the money. Although the difference was like $20 for my last install, which is likely negligible.

In the A-Pillar itself and not in the glass? I don't see any heater elements on the driver's side A-Pillar area of the windshield itself - I only observe heater elements in the lower "Wiper Park Area" to un-freeze the wipers from the windshield...

I should mention I'm in Houston - so I haven't actually needed the "heated wiper park" windshield to prevent the wipers from freezing to the windshield (yet have purchased two replacement windshields with the heater wiper park area - more to retain resale value which I will likely never even need as I plan on keeping this beast for a long time!), but the associated/connected side-mirror heaters sure do come in handy to clear any fog under certain conditions!

A Curiosity: Do all T4R's have heated side mirrors, or only those equipped with a heated windshield?

The heating element in the windshield is located where the wipers are at "rest" and then runs along side the "A" Pillar (in the windshield) on the drivers side only, not the passenger side as it is not needed there.

.::: EDIT :::. Well there you go... @96r50 posted just before me to clearify!

Just fyi, I used Binswanger Glass to replace my windshield last time and they beat the pants off everyone else price wise and it's free mobile install. Safelite was $40 higher because of all the tacked on fees--also would have been an additional $25 for mobile.

My SR5 Premium has both as well as side mirror markers and puddle lights.
Does yours have the switch for the heated mirrors and back glass?

Pretty sure they all have them. I remember being surprised that all the '01 models had heated side mirrors (I had an SR5).

I just looked at the brochure on Toyota's site and although I couldn't find it mention heated side mirrors, it said that the windshield wiper deicer is standard across all models.

Pretty sure they all do. There is only 1 part number and the glass is $67

Thanks for all the great replies. I took a bright flashlight out and looked at the windshield after the initial responses, and it turns out that the heating elements are very visible/obvious. Not sure how I didn't notice them before. Thanks again.

I wasn't aware that mine had a heated windshield. Where is the switch for it?
