Kustom54 - Any real world experience?

Looking for real-world experience with anyone running Kustom54 retrofits on a 5th gen. I am over the XBs and I am not a huge fan of the Alpharex.

I’ve had two sets of Kustom54 headlights. The first were a retrofit I requested and the second were the AB6 design - I sold the first set to get the AB6.

Overall, it was a good experience and Pavel’s customer support is amazing. I did have an issue with a few diodes in the AB6 going out, Pavel traced it to the supplier and it was an isolated issue with him offering full coverage under his warranty.

I sold the truck that had the AB6 and currently have a 2020 with the XB in them. I’ve already had the XB replaced once under warranty and if I have another issue with them I will definitely go back to Kustom54.

I currently have the AB6 with all the bells on them. I think the morimoto bi-led he used puts out better and more useable light than my HIDs in the stock housing did. Very pleased with them.

JK24 provided good info - and I'd agree - the Morimoto bi-led provided great output. I would say the output on those has better throw, a less sharp cutoff and better side to side illumination than the XB headlights do.

I’m on my second set of Kustom 54 lights. I went from their original Bi-LED retrofits (See first photo) to their AB6’s (second and third photos). I installed the AB’s last weekend and ran into a snag with my high beams not working. I direct messaged Kustom 54 via Instagram and he was able to troubleshoot it for me really fast (Connector polarity wasn’t correct). I was impressed. Oh, and Kustom 54 wiring keeps improving! The original set took more time and patience to wire. The newest versions are such a piece of cake.

I am not a fan of the XB’s or the Alpharex’s either. I think the Kustom 54’s just look way better, and the performance is great with the Morimoto Bi-LEDs. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again.

One thing I don’t really like with the Bi-LED projectors are the two letter M’s they project when the low beams are on. You don’t see them when you’re driving. I just feel they’re a little cheesy, but I’m guessing that’s how Morimoto distinguishes their LEDs.

I see on the site things like “deactivates high beam” and “drl inactivation require”

What factory functions are you losing on the stalk dial when you go with these?

the bi-led projector in my kustom54 light went loose... no threadlocker or locking washers used to secure it to the bracket. They would have fixed it. but i didn't have any spare headlights around to reinstall.. Cracked it opened and fixed it myself.

also i originally ordered with untouched reflector bowls, but he shipped them painted black, he paid for shipping both ways, but took another few weeks to get my lights.
the best part about his light was running dual highbeam, projectors and the highbeam reflector.

Currently running Alpharex Nova's and i can't be happier. Oem quality, better drls, and better lights.

Decided on the Nova's because 2 friends have a ton of condensation in their Kustom54's. Both not long after install too.

The deep channels can be challenging to completely fill with butyl, but I’d expect someone like Kustom54 to handle it no problem.
When I sealed mine, I softened the butyl in the channel and used a flathead screwdriver like a paintbrush to smooth the butyl into the channel. Then I reheated with the lenses on to finish the seal. I just finished last week, so time will tell if they’re completely sealed, but this isn’t my first headlight retrofit so cautiously optimistic.

I had my set of AB6 headlights for a couple of months before the LED DRL in one assembly went out. Sent them in for repair, it’s been almost a month and I haven’t anything back from them. Mine have D2S projectors and the light output is amazing. If could do it again I wouldn’t order from them. Also took almost 4 months to get them in after my initial order. Good thing I didn’t sell my original headlamps or I would’ve been in a rental.
