If you can figure out a better way to get this out my hats off to you. I invite you to try.
There are only three options to do this:
1. Remove the engine
2. Remove the front differential assembly
3. Take the shortcut (The way I did it)

New steering rack is in and everything bolted back together. The alignment is slightly off with the driver side toed out a tad so need to get it to the alignment shop ASAP. Steering is nice and tight and feels great. Hoping to never have to do this again!

Curious if you got in dialed in, aligned, and such.
Are you going to do a formal write-up?
Thanks

Yes I got it to the alignment rack this weekend and was pretty spot on. Everything was perfect except for my driver side being toed out. Truck is driving straight as an arrow now.
I’ve been spending my mornings and evenings working on the DIY article for Trail4r.com. I think it should be published in the next week or so. Until then If you have any questions feel free to ask here and I’ll respond.

The article is completed and submitted to the site. Just waiting for them to publish it. Should be soon!

I have a buddy at Toyota who told me awhile back the hardest part was removing the front diff. I'm sure a lot of other things need to be moved, but it seemed like that was the MAIN issue.

I didn't need to remove the front diff to get the rack out, fortunately. Although, that isn't super hard to do either.

Good to know. I fear I'll be needing to do mine eventually with all the off-roading I do. Besides the leak did you have any other symptoms of it possibly failing or going out?

Yes there was some creaking coming from the rack while turning. I originally thought it was the steering shaft but clearly it was an early indicator things were failing.
