Speedometer recalibration

Asked this question about 1.5 years ago and in short, got a "not possible." However, I heard it's possible now but no one was able to give me a product that actually does it. So asking again....

This. I’m sure a dealer could recalibrate it if you’re looking to have it down for tire size but like this shows.... you’re 1mph fast vs 1mph slow so what’s the point?

I checked mine against gps after I went to 285’s I would bounce between being spot on and 1mph slow

I’m on 34’s. When my speedometer shows 80... my cell gps speedometer shows 83-84.

I have multiple vehicles and 4runner isn’t my daily driver... so I often forget I’m going 84

On my 4th gen, the stock tire (265/65r17) diameter is only 30.6”, and my 255/80r17s are 33.1”, over an 8% difference. If my speedo says 60, I’m actually going 65. Odometer is off, too.

I don’t know about the 5th gens, but you can buy a speedohealer for the 4th gen. There are threads on here about it.

Speedohealer is probably the only current solution. Or you could have custom ABS tone rings made for all 4 wheels that have one or two additional teeth - I'd have to figure out the correct math on that, but it's the only other solution I know of.

no write ups yet. @Old Red did send me some information that would probably help with the installation.
I have a Speedohealer here i haven't gotten to install yet

But i have 34's that really whacked out my speedo meter. probably 5-6mph off most of the time. Installed 4.88 gears recently and its between now about 3mph off at higher speeds, but up to 4-5 mph off at lower speeds from what i've seen.

Rough Country/Hypertech makes a speedometer calibrator for both the Tacoma and the Tundra.
Maybe if people bugged them enough. Its installed about the same way the speedohealer would install, but i think their unit has some sort of programming to it and not just a percentage based difference like the speedohealer

not sure if someone can look into the electrical diagrams for tundra and tacoma and see if the units for the tundra or tacoma would work?

Hypertech is not the answer. Because it doesn't work with the 4runner..
