Turn down tip on stock exhaust
Bought a TRD exhaust a while back and kept going back and forth as to whether I was going to keep it. I decided to take it off and wanted to put my stock muffler back on.
I ended up cutting off the tailpipe and tossed it out and only kept the muffler portion. So my solution to re-installing it was to buy a turn down tip and attach it to the muffler. It barely clears the sway bar but it clears none the less and works great.
I think it’s an easy way to make it “high clearance” and I think it just looks clean. Doesn’t make much of a difference with sound.

I've debated doing this to get rid of exhaust fumes coming back through the rear window.
I'd be concerned if idling and not moving with your setup could lead to exhaust fumes and carbon monoxide entering the cabin.

Same here. I will probably just route mine out the side.

I think the Pro exhaust's tip (side, behind rear tire) is the best for keeping fumes away from the rear window, and for departure angle, though I've read that it's pretty noisy and not in a good way.
When people talk about how dinosaurish the 1GR-FE engine is, they're not lying. My 2023 smells pretty hideous when I punch it with the rear window down. I'm surprised that much stink makes its way through two expensive catalytic converters.

Yep, having it dump like that under a passenger cabin, is not a great idea.

Agree with the people with concerns on exhaust and carbon monoxide being dumped too close to the passenger compartment if idling or stuck somewhere...
As for the TRD Pro, I don't think it's great for departure angle; I know I smashed my exhaust tip coming down off a ledge on the east side of Imogene Pass back in 2020. May have hit with a higher clearance setup, but I am not sure.
I've learned to live with my Pro exhaust but have to agree the sound was not neccessarily something I liked from day one . If at some point I need to replace it I'll probably get a Magnaflow overland one as those seem to be the best combination of clearance and exhaust positioning I've seen.

I figured that between the turn down and the distance it is behind the vehicle that I would be fine. I also happen to carry a CO monitor in the car as I sleep in it pretty often. So if I do have gasses entering the cab I should know… hopefully.

Curious to know if you pick anything up. I would mainly be worried about a situation with a prolonged idle (or in a situation like being stuck in place in the cold due to a closure situation or what not). As long as you are moving along probably would be okay.

I did that with a sawzall to my stock exhaust years ago after crushing it shut near the bumper.
Rear of the vehicle is pretty well sealed up. The vents behind each rear wheel have a rubber flap 'check valve' that keep them closed, or only open under positive pressure from the HVAC vent (or doors closing, airbags, etc). Without some major extenuating circumstances, this isn't going to cause any CO poisoning.

Assuming the venting setup doesn't develop a problem like Ford Explorers have.
The OP has a CO monitor, which is good as CO poisoning is insidious. You don't know it's happening. You just go to sleep and maybe never wake up.

I don't.
Say you're sitting in stop and go traffic, or sitting with the engine running while working at a job site, eating your fast food you just got in the drive-through, etc. If the CO can get in, you could just gradually drift off to sleep, and never wake up.
It happened to a guy not far from where I live a couple winters ago. He got stuck, and sat there with the engine running to keep the heater going. He had a leak in his exhaust system under the car, the CO got in, and he just fell asleep and was found dead due to CO poisoning the next day.
The OP can do what he wants. A few of us are just letting him know it's not a great idea.
