High(er) inventory of 5th Gens ???

Anybody else out there noticed that it doesn't seem like 11's are moving off the lots the last several weeks? In my area (Louisville) the dealers have had the same units for weeks and weeks. Also, according to Trucar (the overstock feature) the sales prices have been declining for several weeks at least in this region ( Cincinnati).

I wonder if it's related to gas prices?

Also wonder if people are waiting until March to see if any incentives come down the pipeline?

Anybody else noticed this?

I wouldn't wait, February is usually quite slow time for car sales, I might be wrong, but I noticed that prices go down when new models come to dealerships (for current year models though) and in January-February when people are recovering from Christmas spending. Gas prices could be a factor too of course.
 
Dont know about how many units are moving, but overall my local dealer in NC (27101) typically has less than 10 4Rs on the lot, and its unusual to see a 4WD one. This makes me sad...
4th Gen 4Rs used to be plentiful on the lot and many or most were 4WD.

In my area at least, the 4Runner seems to be heading towards extinction, I hardly ever see 5th gens on the road, they are about as rare as FJs. This is not the case with previous generations. I still get a kick out of seeing any 4R on the road, and always wonder if they are a 4R enthusiast?!

I agree. I'd hate to see the 4Runner disappear like the FJ is about to, but what can we expect if sales don't increase drastically? Unless Toyota is content with keeping the 4Runner around as a low-volume seller like the Land Cruiser. Look at the bright side--the 4Runner will always outsell the Land Cruiser, so there is hope!
 
It seems like the dealers around here about about 2x as many cars as they had on the lot when I was looking at this time last year. Then again, last year each dealer around here had 3 or 4 4Runners max.

I see 4Runners all over the place up here, though. The 5th gen is proving to be very, very popular. I can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Blizzard Pearl SR5. (other than my own, of course, haha)

So that's where they're all going! LOL. Around here, I've seen maybe 3 or 4 on the road so far. I'm sure that will all change as time passes.

I've seen 3 or 4... since Saturday. And I only commute 6 miles each way on a 55mph country road.

Hahahaha.....so you've seen as many in the last 5 days as I've seen since they came out. That's funny.

It's strange, but I probably see at least 10 3rd gens on my way to work and home every day. Those things just seem to be EVERYWHERE. At the same time, I probably see maybe 6 or 7 4th gens. Once in a blue moon I'll see a 2nd gen, but not very often. And the 1st gen I haven't seen in the longest time. The 5th gen seems about as common as the 2nd gen...once in a blue moon.
 
I don't think I have seen a 5th Gen around Toronto yet - the one they had in the showroom at my local dealer seems to have been supplanted by their new Scion range for some reason. I don't think they are moving all that fast up here which I hope means some good deals in the future even if it might not be good for the long term outlook. My fear is that Toyota's initial response will be to cut back the already limited choices we have in Canada.

I've seen grey Limited and silver Trail in Mississauga, besides I drive to Toronto on occasions : ) But when I was looking for mine there were only 7 4Runners in Ontario

I'm out east of TO - think up north of bowmanville - the runner is a blessing out here in winter - see a lot of 4th and 3rd Gens - guess if I get one it will be pretty exclusive at least
