Hello all,

i don't know if its and issue YET, but i noticed when i went in the garage tonight that there was a humming/hissing noise coming from the back on my 2010 runner. I got under neither it were the spare is and tracked it down to some sort of pump or relay above the spare tire. The hissing noise sounded like an air hose would if it were leaking. I put the key in ignition and turned it to on with out starting the engine. I heard the normal pumps kick on so i waited a few seconds and cut the key off. The noise was gone. So, i started the engine and everything was fine. When i turned the engine off the noise was still gone.

Has anyone else heard this before? Any ideas of what it could be. Any known issues?

It's normal - it's part of the EVAP system - plenty of threads about it.

Funny if this was a Jeep forum it really would be a fuel pump issue. Here it's just paranoia.
