The normal idle range is 700 ±50 iirc. I would start with a clean air filter (no more than 15k miles on it for paper type) and a clean MAF sensor. You can find threads on cleaning the MAF sensor here and most auto parts stores will carry a Mass Air Flow Cleaner spray. Most would recommend a clean throttle body and idle air control after that.
