If you want one winch set in the middle, this probably won't be possible with a smaller vehicle. If you pull from the top of the drum one the front and from the bottom for the rear it would work.

The best solution would be wheel with a buddy where each of you a winch have or mount two permanent winches. By the time you pay for all the fab work to make a mulit mount strong enough you could probably have almost enough for a couple of winches.
No, that's a side view of the front bumper (just a normal front mounted winch). So you only need one pulley to direct the rope to the rear.

If you're building a winch bumper already, it would be super easy to add a receiver in the front (not really much extra cost). The only costs would be a heavy duty pulley, truss, and fairlead for the rear. Hardly the cost of a whole other winch.

I'll probably do something similar to this whenever I get around to building bumpers. It's definitely worth it to be able to winch from the rear. (it would have been nice to have that several times just last week alone)
