Civilians could get the near-military Hummer until about 1997 or so. Then they changed some stuff, I think mostly the engine but the guts of the truck were still the mil-spec. Then the H2 came out - ugh. All sizzle, no steak. Even original Hummer owners are disgusted by them. Our 4Runners are 100 times tougher than the H2.

Have you guys seen www.fuh2.com? Says it all.
