Rear springs
Lets talk rear leaf springs. I think I'm going in a different direction and pulling my "lift" off. I've currently got a coil helper in the rear and balljoint spacers in the front, and after a couple trails I've decided I'm higher than I want to be and don't have enough flex. That's a bad combo, so it's back to stock height for me.
Trouble is, my rears are shot, which was the reason for the zukmod in the first place. What are my options? I'm looking first for load capacity at stock height, with good flex a close second. Those may be conflicting goals?
1) replacement OE springs/rearch what I've got. They'll just sag again.
2) replacement OE springs with overload/helper leaf. Rough ride, less flex. I kinda don't want to do this.
3) Modify the Zukmod with a shorter and weaker coil. I don't want to do this either. With respect to ZUK, it's a compromise and a hack job to run the no-weld like I've got, and even if I had the fab skills to do it right it's still a flex limiter.
4) OME springs? I've heard conflicting reports, do the medium duty OME springs add lift or not? A set of OME springs that would leave me at stock height would be perfect.
5) Chevies? Never mind that the thought of a Chevy product on my Yota makes me throw up a little in my mouth, if these will work for me I'll hold my nose and run 'em. But I've heard conflicting things here too, folks say they just flex better and others use them behind a straight axle swap to balance the 4 inch lift in front. What's the story on these, do they add lift?
6) Custom spring pack - HASSLE. I'll revisit this if I have to, but right now it's off the table. Don't wanna mess with that.
7) Airbags on my existing springs? Similiar to the zukmod, it's a compromise and a bandaid.
8) Something else I haven't thought of?
To sum up - I'm looking for a clean rear suspension solution that will leave me stock height, flexes well, and won't sag when I put a gallon of water in the bed. Educate me?
