What type of oil do you run??

I've got 240,xxx miles on my 95 t4r 3.0 and am trying to decide what viscosity oil to use. I live in TN so it doesn't really get all that cold around here, but it does get hot and humid.

If you have that many miles on your 4Runner and things are fine, why considering changing viscosity at this point?
 
I just recently bought it and haven't done an oil change on it yet and was thinking of what oil thickness to use.
 
I always run Mobil 1 synthetic 10w-40 high mile , or Castrol syntec 10w-40 on our 1990 4runner(wt 94k miles). Uses no oil between annual oil changes. Mobil seems to work best in the 3VZE, whereas I've found the Castrol works better in German make applications.

10w30 in summer, 5w30 in winter. Full conventional, whatever is on sale at work when I need it, or preferably I'll stock up when better filters are included with the bundles. I think right now it's Castrol GTX and a Bosch filter.
 
I have a rebuilt 22re with approx. 40k on it and I run Mobil1 high mileage synthetic & an oem filter. No problems or.inconsistencies

That's good.

Thinking I might go back to full conventional too. I swear I'm getting an overall lower oil pressure reading once I switched to Castrol GTX. However, I just bought my 4Runner about a month ago and only did the one oil change; but I swear my oil pressure was a bit higher before...

:hello: Thanks bud. Good to be aboard! I'm trying my best to keep it fully maintained and replacing whatever it needs.
 
Yeah buddy!
The 22 series motors is one of the toughest and.most reliable motors ever built. Lookup the BBC topgear episode where they did their best, and failed to kill one of these little monsters. They are reliable as hell, but ONLY AFTER you've got it tuned and running properly. They are notoriously sensitive(vac lines), but once its on IT'S ON.

Ive had my 1st gen about 18 months, and she's nearly running PERFECTLY. I think a new starter and alternator will have her back to 101%, take your time and have fun brother!

I am well aware of that Top Gear episode when they try and kill that Hilux; I've seen every single Top Gear episode hahah.

But yeah that Hilux had a diesel engine; I believe it was the 2L diesel engine and not a 22RE. Still an amazing truck.
