rear window on 91 won't raise back up

The rear window on my 91 has been acting flakey for awhile. At first what I figured was the key switch in the back began cutting out intermittantly. The window would go down fine but stop several times on the way up. I could always get the switch in the center console to control window properly though. I figured it was the rear key switch contacts since turning it back and forth would usually get it to work. Now though I can't get the window to come up with either the key or the center console switch. I can hear a clicking noise in the gate panel when the switches are activated but no window movement.

Any ideas on where I can get a schematic or how to go about diagnosing/fixing this?

Thanks

I had the same problem with my `88. It was just a bad ground for the window motor. I think I would start there then go to the motor and check for power. You have to check for power with the tailgate up because there is switches in the latches on the side. That is just the basics I don`t have time right now to explain everything so we`ll start with that.

(1992 V6 Limited) Hey guys, my rear window won't go up with the key but it does work perfectly well with the internal switch. Will be looking into this in a few days. Any suggestion before dismantling it?

Thanks.

Usually the rear tailgate motor on the 84-95 4-Runners and 80-90 Landcruiser wagons models:LJ/BJ60 & 62 series have the gear on the motor itself strip so a new motor is the solution but they are $250+ at Toyota if they are still available.
What many people have done is gone to a junk yard an bought a Celica,Supra,Camry or Mazda 323 or 626 power window door motors as they are in excellent shape and have cut & crimpt the old harness on it and works like new,you have to realize that 4-Runner,pickup & Landcruiser parts are in high demand so they are difficult to source and cost alot.

4-Runner rear tailgate window motor:

80’s Celica/Supra
87-91 Camry (left or back door), passenger side door power window motor out of Camry
Mazda 323 or 626’s passenger or driver’s side window motor two of the holes line up while the 3rd needs filing.

Just on more tip:

Still trying to get my rear window to go up with the keyes (works perfect with the interior switch and only goes up with the keyes)

While in the eliminating possiblities process, dismanteled the central console "lock" swich and felt like an arqueologist.

The swich has been desinged in such way that all dust/dirt gets directly inside, even worse if you think where it has been placed (right in the place where everything falls over/into it).

Regretfully the pics didn't come out well but still here you have a couple of my archeological findings..... (everything below the orange line is just dirt/dust).
