transmission gremlin

will to start i was driving, rainy day lots of puddles, and my clutch stopped working i have put a new clutch in the summer a new slave 2 weeks ago and a new master cylinder and nothing. then after driving 3 times with out a clutch it started working but just barely. it was shifting really stiff and wasnt going in to gear well then i slowed down and turned and shifted down into 2 and my tranny just stopped working i was in 2 wheel drive, i tired it in 4 hi 4 low and it still wouldnt work i got under neith and i didnt see any thing wrong except there was a leak on the transfer case of gear lube this is the third time its left me stranded iam about ready to sell it and when it stopped it did not make any weird nosies

insight on how to fix this would be glady appcreited sorry i spelt that wrong but plese help

and the strange thing was it was running perfect before this so inless somebody messed with my truck i have no clue except maybe a bent shift fork

oh PS is the clutch in these five speeds an oil bath system and its got a 22re

First we need to establish if the clutch is working or not?
manual transmissions are mostly bullet proof and if they are bad typically its a syncro issue.
as far is it being a coming and going issue that points me to the master or slave or a leak in the line or clutch. A leak is easy to figure out because you will not have fluid after the clutch pedal is pumped a bunch.
If you are not leaking.
1. did you bench bleed the master cylinder?
2. was the fluid bled correctly?
if the slave and master are good it might be the clutch pressure plate failing for some reason, or the flywheel is so glazed over that clutch disc is not gripping fully OR my all time favorite is just plane a cheap clutch.

first thing to do is check the above mentioned and get more info to us i dont know your skill level of install (not trying to be rude) but if the clutch wasn't installed right then it can cause it to fail premature

I didn't bench bleed it what ever that is and it is keeping fluid and my dad and I put the clutch in and he has been a mechanic for 20 years

if you didnt bench bleed the master cylinder then that is most likely your issue look up a how to on youtube and get a new master cylinder and bench bleed it before you install it.

well the manual trans takes 80/90 gear oil all you need to do is drain about a half quart or full quart depending how dirty the fluid is with this done you now have room in the gearbox for regular automatic transmission fluid so you run about 75% gear oil and 25% automatic transmission fluid.
The reason this is done is to clean and should not be used for heavy duty activity but city driving is fine do this for about 100 miles and drain all the fluid out and replace it again with the same mixture and run again for 100 miles then drain again if the fluid you are draining is still dirty repeat this until you get clean fluid out after 100 miles. once you have clean fluid just fill it back up with the recommended gear oil. if this helps your problem then you just have a lot of gunk in the tranny and you want to change your fluid alot to make sure the gunk gets out.

Also can you shift in and out of the gears smooth when the engine is off?
if you place the vehicle in gear and turn the engine over does the truck learch forward with starter?

running the mixture wont hurt in 4wd or anything.
I run this mixture all year around no matter what im doing highway offroad you name it im running a mix.
Your starter should creep the truck forward when your in gear.
i still think your clutch is the problem! nothing in the transmission would go in and out of action its ether broke or not.
I think you need to pull the tranny off and get a good look at the clutch.

If you can get a video of the problem that might help me a little more.

1. how many miles are on the transmission.
2. what clutch did you buy?
3. did the old clutch completely destroy itself?

About a 100 thousand on the trans clutch was from a good parts store and the old clutch was just weak you couldn't drive with 2 people in the car and the preassure plate and clutch pads were shot

the manual transmission life is about 500,000 miles so its not your transmission it has to be something with the clutch or flywheel is the flywheel is glazed the disc will not grab enough.
i know its hard to admit but you may want to bring it into a shop for diagnosis of the problem i cant tell you whats wrong without driving it.
if your hydrolics are good in the clutch then the pressure plate or disc has to be the issue.
