spark plug help!!!

soo im doing spark plugs. it needed them baaaad. So i got em. My first time doing them. Found em' took them off easily enough buuuuuuut 2 of the new ones wont screw in all the way as if the threads arent lining up? I get about half way in and it goes tight. I broke one already tried it again with an old one but that one broke too. double fail

Any tips or trick to get it to go in??

Thanks,
Kris

Have you tried putting anti-seize on the threads?

It's a silver paste that you'll get on you no matter how hard you try not to, and it works great.

But if you have broken 2 plugs trying to screw them in, you may have a bigger problem.

You might want to run a thread chaser thru there to make sure clean them up

sounds like the previous owner when he put them in ended up stripping the threads. If thats the case getting a new one in will be impossible without rethreading it. Those are a ***** to since you have to catch all the shavings so they dont fall in the block. Had to do it for a mitsubushi I had.

A chaser like the one shown in fourwd1 post will usually work. Dip the chaser in some grease to catch any filings that come off. If that doesn`t work you will have to use a spark plug repair kit.

didnt work

alright. So i changed my plugs. tuned it up aaaaand did some fixing on it.. The idle on it was bad and basically staleld out so I fixed that problem buuuuut my MAJOR problem still isnt fixed. I basically have to mash the peddle to the floor for it to go anywhere and even that is is sluggush. Also have to manually shift on an auto matic. The OVERDRIVE doesnt really work anymore. I click it on and it flashes OD off. Been like that for about a year... Whats up? Is it time for a new 4 runner??? 1992 165xxx miles on her..

I would take it to a shop and have them scan for transmission code's, if you can scan it yourself more power to you. Sound's like it's stuck in overdrive.

Ive taken it to the shop and they said something or another they cant figure it out because something is wrong. iiidk I will have to. Idk if I broke anything but more or less it broke itself?? I was just driving it one day turned it off went to work the next morning and bam.. Stuck in 3rd or 4th. Thats when I had to start manually shifting it.. It worked and ran, sped up and what not just fine.. Now. Even in first. Its slooooow as hell.. and takes it a bit to get up to speed.
