4ROTM changed?
Wasn't Scofco a 4ROTM? Was that changed with Thai because I don't remember Thai being the Jan. 4ROTM?

I forgot about that thread after I posted on it.
It looks like you revoked his 4ROTM because he had an opinion counter to your own. Ironic since the subject was American flag/American values.
The Bill of Rights and Constitution is setup on the foundation of protecting the rights of the minority, not the majority. That's the crux of "freedom of speech" in America.
Scofco's posts didn't sound flaming or angry either.
Anyway, I don't see what his opinion has to do with 4ROTM. He stated this site is mostly 4th gen (which it is) and other people said the same thing. In fact, bamachem questioned the motives of the mods and said it's a 4th gen site and the only reason his was picked as 4ROTM is because it was going in the ARB calendar (which is wasn't but that was his impression-so should he be revoked too?)
I don't know, it's too bad the 4ROTM have to be tainted like that. It's not much of an award if it can be changed and edited at the whim of the mods. If an Academy Award is given to someone who doesn't want it or like the AA, it is still given (it has happened and the only time it is "revoked" is if the winner refuses the award--but they are still listed as the winner).
I say all this because Scofco seems like a good guy and he has a nice truck- and also that this whole thing is wrong.

There is more to it that went on in pm's that helped the change. It is probably better not to open old wounds and let it drop.

Has nothing to do with "freedom of speech". Scofco edited his own posts - I didn't touch a single word. I fully explained the basis of my decision in the thread, looks like you just don't get it. You also apparently don't know what freedom of speech isabout. "Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech..." Last time I checked I wasn't a member of Congress and T4R.ORG is not a government agency
I don't believe in censorship, if I did how come I haven't zapped your uneducated dig at partznet (one of the sponsors of this site) in your sig? "PARTZNET.COM DOESN'T SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. DON'T BUY FROM THEM." I'd love to see you try posting a comment like that about the sponsor of ANY other forum and see how long it lasts. I tell all my sponsors when they sign up that I don't believe in censorship and not to expect me to censor posts that are negative about them. (BTW, I believe Steve and the guy who had the beef with partznet have amicably resolved their differences )

Again, you need to read my post in the other thread, I said something to the effect that the decision was SOLELY my own and none of the mods or Thai had ANYTHING to do with it. I'll be happy to remove you from the 4ROTM list if your are dissatisfied with how it's being handled

Okay, your wish is my command.
Edit: I just noticed that when I deleted First Toyz membership his sig automatically dissappeared. For the record I did NOT delete his sig about partznet referenced earlier.

It seems kinda strange how FirstToyz found the change now. I wonder if it had anything to do with his "unfounded" knowledge of other SUVs?? Geez, the guy will argue you to death even when he has no idea what he's saying!

I too kind of figured this was more related to your little disagreement over the G500 then trying to stick up for Scofco and "freedom of speech" I'm starting to have more respect for Scofco now after this whole episode - at least he didn't ask to have his membership revoked after all we put him through In fact Scofco if you're reading this how'd you like to be the replacement for February '04 4ROTM - no hard feelings, there's gonna be an opening soon

My .02
First, let me explain where I stand.
I didn't agree with Scofco's comments, as I obviously stated in my responses.
From what I saw, Scofco was never offending, he was just honest. Thats respectable. I share some of his same feelings, if it was my site, but since it is not and the managers of the site are American, I saw and understood the July banner.
What I don't agree with is taking back the awards. I think they should be an honor that should stand, it shouldn't be something that you can give and take at any moment. Even if this guy (FirstToyz) isn't here anymore because he got deleted or whatever, its still an honor that he earned respectably. His behavior beyond that is another story. Same as Scofco, I never thought his honor should have been revoked.
Also, to be completely honest, it seems childish in a way and demeans the honor, IMO. "Scofco, you want the honor now?" It should be something somewhat important ney holy, not something thats just given out like such. In their cases the honor is theirs and I don't think they should be revoked. Regardless of what they've said or you've disagreed about, they're beautiful runners nonetheless. If not for them, have respect for their runners not to take away the honor.
But... I'm sure you'll do as you'll do, its just my .02.

I hear you 94yotarunner but since FirstToyz asked for his membership to be cancelled I figure he doesn't want to be associated with this forum in any manner so I went ahead and substituted Scofco in his place. Now if Scofco tells me to shove the award up my ass I'll fully understand
Also, the mods and admins are seriously considering dropping the 4ROTM award all together at this point. This forum is supposed to be a fun place and the banners and 4ROTM choices are supposed to add to this. I for one don't enjoy getting PMs from folks whininig like little babies about how they weren't chosen or having folks complain about conspiracies against one gen or another

Since this whole 4ROTM thing is creating such a controversy, I will be talking to GG about eliminating this thing altogether.
