This is extremely bittersweet, I love this rig but with a 3rd child on the way and a 75lbs Labrador this just doesn't have the room for overlanding. I've since bought a doublecab tundra and it's a great truck but it's no 4Runner. I've owned the 4Runner for a little over a year. Bought it stock with 226k on her from California and had it shipped to me in Maine. It looked like a time capsul (I'd still eat off the engine) zero rust, clean interior and the engine looked like it came from the factory. There isn't any rust, you can see the original frame sticker and paint pen marks. Fluid film was done to the entire underside including in the frame rails. I never went muddling with it, it has seen mud but I hate cleaning mud from under the truck. I built all the armor and roof rack for it. The skid plate mounts to the new front cross member and can be removed without removing the bumper. I took the mid plate off for more visibility in pictures. With it installed you can't steal the cats. The front bumper has been designed to sit as close to the truck as possible for better approach angles. It also has a 2" receiver and recovery points. The rear is extremely high clearance I trimmed part of the pinch weld to gain clearance. Recovery points and 2" receiver on the rear as well. Also designed it to be lifted with a high lift jack. Bolts to all factory frame holes. Sliders are 2" Dom square tubing with filler plates to keep the kicked up rocks off the paint. All the armor has been well thought out. The roof rack is a modular design and mounts to the factory rails. I have 3 more rails that will bolt to a cvt mt rainier tent. I don't get any howling and on the last trip I got 18mpg at 80 mph with the rack installed. I've also done the major maintenance for the next 50-70k. Whoever buys this truck will own a very reliable and capable family rig. I will be sad to see it go.
