Alignment on a 4 runner

Hello,

I'm new here and had a quick question. I have only had my 4 runner for about a year. I am in the process of looking for new tires for my truck. The dealership is running a good deal but I'm not interested in buying any of the tires they can offer.

I was going to go elsewhere but read an forum that said any vsc equipped vehicle needs to have an alignment done at a dealership. Is this true or can I just have the tire shop do the alignment. Here is what I read.

to "perform a zero point calibration for the yaw rate sensor and steering angle sensor." If they aligned the truck and changed the steering wheel orientation the sensor is now out of calibration. This procedure should be performed anytime an aligment is performed on a vsc equipped vehicle. Unfortunately you need to have a scan tool to do it.

Thanks

is your 4r stock, lifted, etc.? eitherway, you dont have to get an alignment done only at the stealership, the ZPC can be done by you, & the steering wheel orientation shouldnt be an issues if the alignments done at a good shop. i do understand that you are new to the forum so im not trying to sound like a jerk, but theres alot of alignment threads on here, a quick read thru some may help with this & your VSC issues, or at least give some insight on them, if theres a FIRESTONE nearby, some like the lifetime alignment. A lot of tire shops like Discount Tire don't do alignments but you probably still need it. I went to Brakes Plus, $58 or $45 with coupon.
