How do you get your big dog in and out of your 4Runner.
My dog weighs about a 140lbs and he's getting old and not too good at jumping into the truck by himself. And I worry about his joints when he jumps out.
Whats working for me right now is a thing called the "otto step". Which is a heavy duty plastic step that I slide into the trailer hitch. It's not too big so it doesn't take up much room in the back. It's light so When I need it I slide it into the hitch, he climbs on it like a regular step and then climbs into the back. Once he's in , I yank it out and throw it into the back. It's pretty easy.
When I bought the 4Runner I put a side step on . I thought he could use that to get into the back seat but the back door is too narrow and high. Then I tried a ramp but he didn't like the ramp. I thought about the "twi-step" that orvis and a lot of other places sell but decided to go with the "otto step" since it was cheaper.
So far the otto step is working great.
