Trying to Bust a Myth

As you can tell from my name I am not a 4runner owner but I think they are fine cars anyways. However, the other day a friend of mine was talking to an individual who was by far not the brightest crayon in the box, but anyways said he had a 1200hp
4Runner which I personally think is physically impossible. SO I ask you 4Runner owners, have you heard anything about a mysterious 1200 hp 4runner or is this even possible to do, or is this guy making up a bunch of lies.

I've seen some long travel trucks for the desert that crank out a little over 1,000 HP. So would I say possible? Anything is possible. But do I call bullshit on this guy? Ohhhh yes.

:xnuts:

Discrepancy in the force.......

Aka: Disagreement.

His schwartz was not as big as mine, so I banned him.

And with enough money you can do pretty much anything...

at that point though is it really a 4runner? or just a 4runner shell? like these people who claim they have civics that produce that power but all it is is a civic shell.

i do not see how a stock 4runner engine can output anything close to that amount of HP

he claims he put 75000 dollars into the car to get it up to 1200hp,
but then again he also claims that he got it up to 187mph and was able to outrun a cop

My assumption: This guy is on crack :bash:

:iagree: You couldn't really call it a 4runner. I think at that point the engine, drivetrain, and suspension would be so heavily modded that nothing of those original systems would remain.

I believe it! :awais:

If you start with a forced induction V8, add a few 'normal' mods and Nitrious that'd bring you to 400+/-.

If I understand correctly the T4R.org sticker is worth about 800hp in addition to magically stregnthening the axles, chassis etc.:biggrin2: :zoom: :headslap:

It all makes sense to me.

CJ3Flyr you are an idiot. You are obviously not taking the hood scoop into account. +350hp or so.

:bash: :twak: :chair: :bonk: I AM an idiot! Anybody with half a clue knows the sticker is only good for 450hp:D

Thanks for setting me straight.:lmao:

Oh. . . ok I see. Then once you remove the factory spoiler and mount a wing to the roof it should be able to reach 206 mph to just barely top out the vette. Yeah this guy is good. Just imagine what he could due to a runner with a 100 grand!

Tell the that to the the NASCAR folks, since all cars have very tight and similar specs regardless of manufacturer. The only visible difference is the sticker headlights and grille that makes one a Camry and the next a Lumina.

Don't discount that adding and additional 2.3 degrees of forward rake will cause negative induction of mass frictional airflow over the hood scoop. This will only work if the TRD badges on the trapezoidal C pillars are NOT blacked out thereby causing lateral forward drag. 1200hp? Hell no. 1198hp? Completely do-able.

Did you get that? Good. Because I sure as hell didn't.

It wouldn't be anything near a stock block 4Runner. I seriously doubt that this block let alone the crank or rods could handle even half that horsepower.
So what you have there is a seriously bad liar. Many years ago when I was in high school there was a tool who lied about tons of stuff. Claimed his 80's pontiac Sunbird had several gears in reverse and tons of HP. Plus he opened for various big name bands that came to town. Some people are such huge liars and after a while they begin to believe there own crap. Even to this day we all remember him and how he was a huge liar.

Heck, just go to any truckstop or rural bar. You'll meet dozens of ex-Navy SEALs who killed fifty VC with their bare hands.
:awais:

The funniest chap I ever encountered (who made similar claims) was going on and on. Being former military, I knew much of what he said was BS, so I asked a few innocent questions. First, I inquired as to whether you had to have attained the rank of "sergeant" before the Navy would let you begin SEAL training.

There is no such thing as a "sergeant" in the Navy; as that NCO rank is part of the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps - but not the Navy.

It is fun to let them go an and on spinning their web of lies. I never "call them" on it, but merely tell them that I enjoyed the chat and I head on out the door. You could not find such entertainment on pay-per-view, folks!
:biggrin2:

P.S. Watch out for the guy who is about 45 and claims to have done combat duty in Viet Nam. (What was he, about eight years old at the time of enlistment?)
