camgear bolt help

when takin the camgears off the camshafts to loosen the bolt do you turn it clockwise? because the engine spins clockwise so to tighten it you would go counter clockwise and to loosen would be clockwise, makes sense right? i just cant get those bolts off, maybe ill have to get air tools, or the tool from toyota. thanks for the help
