Gee, it's a shame you can't build more capable rigs (LOL)--just kidding, obviously! That sucker looks like it could climb just about anything, and with Dana 60's, survive anything, too. Very nice work...again!
Thanks guys...I have a very close friend that owns a fab shop (Rocktek Customz) he talked me into the dana 60, 4-link suspension, hydro steering and I forgot to mention the thing was armored from front to back with a very sexy skid plate he made.
I'd be interested in seeing a pic of that skid plate--while the IFS rigs are easy to armor, I've been wondering what kind of protection I could put under my SAS'd Runner. With so much movement from high-articulation leaf suspensions, I'm not sure how big of a plate I could get away with. Any tips would be appreciated!
I will try to dig up a picture... the skid was notched for the rear drive shaft and went all the way back to the rear leaf hangers. In the front it was also notched for the drive shaft (larger notch due to the offset shaft) and pushed all the way forward to the back of the front tires. We welded inserts into the frame and bolted it on with button head bolts all the way down(about 8 per side)
