Thanks! It's very scenic, especially in the Fall. I've come up (to the gate) from the southwest side of the pass from Peru Creek out of Montezuma. I want to go in from the Greys and Torreys side (off I-70) this summer.
That's the direction they came from in my book, south out of Georgetown, off of 381. There's a neat side trip from the old site of some place called Waldorf, heading west towards McClellan Mtn., where there's the old Santiago Mine and ghost town. Some of the other spots high on my list are the Devil's Punchbowl near Schofield Pass, Mt. Antero and nearby Brown's Lake (awesome camping spot), and the whole Silverton/Ouray/Telluride area. Thanks for sharing, Dave!
