OCMike: thanks...the mount and the brass telescope belong to a science foundation for which I am a volunteer...lucky me, I get to use that equipment since I do school and public observing events. The white telescope is my own and produces superb deep sky images.
Sweet pier mount setup. Is that a Takahashi?? Nice! I've got an 8" dob but have been thinking about getting a refractor or computerized GPS SCT. Star hopping is fun but sometimes it would be nice to plug and play. My astronomy club meets up at and has access to an ancient 20" refractor: http://mysite.du.edu/~rstencel/Chamberlin/
@boondoggle: yep, that's a Tak TSA102. Great for visual and imaging. I usually have it on an iOptron iEQ45 mount, which is far more portable than that AP900. Would love to look through that 20" refractor. We have access to a 15" refractor at 3RF.org. I've imaged the moon through it.
