Well, it's a '98 grille with the innards removed. I didn't like that the black inner edges and the chrome surround were separated by a visible crevasse all the way around so I filled it with bondo. Prime, sand (120, 220, 320) bondo, lather rinse, repeat. Used Dupli-Color Natural White. Let it dry for a week, wet sanded with 1500 and 2000. Polishing compound then carnuba wax. No clear coat. I figured if it's on the front of the vehicle, it will get chipped and clear coat makes it hard to touch-up.
