With it folded in half it fits perfectly behind rear seat. I use rubber made containers for storage. Ammo cans can fit on outer sides.

can you post pictures once you paint and install? ive been looking into doing this and wondering how it looks

Yeah I will post up picks after paint is complete and installed. I have used it several times prior to being painted. I have a full size air mattress that fits perfectly (it is a little tight fit between the roof). I'm going to go with foam or an REI camping mat. I like this cause it is simple design (I just kind of came up with it) Easy to pull in and out also.
