Well I sold my '04 Sport to a local buyer (got my full asking price). Buyer and seller are very pleased with the deal. Thanks to all on this forum who responded to my posts with valuable advice. It has been great interacting with you folks. :thanks:

For me the cost (at a Toyota dealership) was $735.00 parts and labor, plus tax on the parts. Can't seem to get anything fixed on the truck for under eight bills anymore. :jaw drop:

I would take "Toyota Certified anything" with a grain of salt. Although it is a bit "off topic" I had my 4Runner repaired at a "Toyota Certified Collision Center" in September/October 2007 (yeah, it took 30 days to get the truck back, but that's another story). The total repair was about $8,000...

Yeah - Toyota doesn't give a rat's a** (it's a result of poor owner maintenance practices). The NHTSA? My daughter had a serious electrical problem with her '98 VW that caused it to stop running at different times (like on the Interstate while driving the speed limit in heavy traffic). I'm sure...

I have a two inch file folder full of service receipts over the 114,200 mile life of the truck - always take good care of my vehicles but this one wears out tires faster (five sets so far), wears out brakes faster (and, I never had calipers go out before), develops rattles and squeaks earlier...

Me too... Today I joined the club (bummer). After the four mile drive home from where I walk my dog I noticed a strong brake smell and a lot of heat coming from the left front wheel. Took it over to my guy at the dealership and, sure enough, it was a frozen caliper. The didn't have the part in...

Oh, and the hum went away when cornering to the right in my case as well because it was the right front bearing that was at fault. Turning to the right takes weight/stress off the right front suspension components.

Wheel bearing - I had the exact same symptoms and having the right front wheel bearing replaced solved everything. Good luck.

Same here - after replacing with OEM a year or so back I had problems with squeaking on the driver's side so I replaced that one with Bosch (kept the OEM on the right). Both still working great.

And right you are! Right front wheel bearing was toast - got it replaced and the problem went away. Thanks for the replies.:hatsoff:
