Did you check your pressures?

If you pull the thermistor out of the evap case and let it hang, it should also get "too cold" and not cycle (as long as the pressures are normal) because the thermistor will not be sensing the...
OK, I got this changed finally and it did solve the excessive cycling problem. The AC is colder than it has been in years, so the failure mode of this piece may be gradual.

I think I have correctly diagnosed a bad thermistor on a 2005 4runner. I just can't figure out how to get the old one out and replace it. The thermistor is just attached to a couple long wires and there seems to be some kind of plug holding them into the side of the evaporator case...
