I would guess that you ran low on fluid. The fact that you overheated the trans would be a sign of that im guessing. For the A/T temp light to go on the trans fluid has to get close to 300F. I would check you fluid levels and check the trans for leaks.

I replaced everything but in the end I needed a new charcoal canister.

Have you checked your LCA Bushings? Those made a huge difference for me.

I just drove it around the way it was. Put new fluid in it and went on my way. But when i took the trans apart the filter was clear. I could have used it again if it wasnt for all of the metal.
