I ran mine without the running boards this past Winter, a brutal Winter too and see no additional wear because they were off. I think the running boards actually trapped a lot of corrosive salt and debris in the joints and now it is easier for me to clean them and prep them for the Winter months.

I'm running a 1.25" set of Spidertrax and it changes the stance so much! Its awesome. I am installing a set of FN wheels today that will sit 1" wider than normal, so will probably change out the spacers to a set of .25" to keep them where they are at. I installed my spacers with the red locktite...
