Finally, Build Pics and Brake Question!

Hey all, first I want to thank everyone here for all the knowledge and support, just the best site and people out there!

I have been saving and planning this build for a few years and started it this weekend. Toytec Ultimate lift, CVJ axles, 13WL big brake kit, and Shrokworks front and rear bumpers.

Overall it went pretty smooth, especially as I had the shop to myself! I was able to get the rear bumper on alone, but couldn't get the front on..yet.

On the brake kit,,,install and bleeding was cake, and I have not driven it on the street yet (not aligned and suspension not adjusted yet), but I notice when moving it in the parking lot that the brakes make a grabbing/vibration noise when applied. I'm wondering if they just need to be broken in, but have never come across this before; any advice?

Do it sound like the ABS is kicking in? When I did the TBU on mine I did the ball joints at the same time. I was getting ABS activation at low speeds (especially rolling up to stop signs) and bleeding multiple times didn't get rid of it.

I had the wheel speed sensors out during the whole process, so I figured I'd broken a wire on one of them or something like that. When I started investigating I found a tiny piece of rust on the end of the sensor on the driver's side, and that was the cause.

It's possible you have a bad sensor, or just some dirt between it and the sensing ring.

Thanks all, much appreciated! Yeah, really hope I just have to break in the brakes. One thing I did not have in the kit was any type of pad backing plate I have seen done on other installs, but we shall see. I willcheck the speed sensors as well, but its less like an ABS pump, more like poor pad/rotor contact...

Oh, the painters tape was where I painted the cabin vent black. It was white plastic, so just shot it quick in case it would be visible.

Definitely recommend not trying to install the bumpers by yourself, what a PITA!!! Hopefully tomorrow I can install the front bumper and do an alignment, then I will check the ride height and if ok, will bed in the brakes and let you know how it turns out. One thing of interest (trying to find the pic) was the included diff drop kit. It did not seem to match up to my truck properly. I have to ask Toytec, but it didn't look right when installed. MY truck appeared to have a different subframe with additional metal spacers built in that were not in their pics so I left it off. Thinking with the new CVJ's it should be ok.

The staff there was awesome, such helpful nice people out there in Colorado! Also, FN Wheels really took great care of me...though now I'm thinking I need to go bigger!!!

Sounds like you just need to beat them up a little once you get the alignment worked out. From what I've read the backing plates aren't usually a big deal. Some pads use them and some don't, and it doesn't seem to make a huge difference, other than some possible noise.
